August 8 - August 9th
Woke up
Packed for the road
DJ came over early
Printed mapquest directions
(Forgot to do this both ways...)
Left around 2
Open Road
Ipod wouldn't work
Nicki Minaj on the radio
Laughing/Talking
Made it to Cary in two hours
Got to Chickfila
Met CLS, after waiting a bit
He had pit seats
Jerk.
He was really cool.
Pretty funny guy.
State- Major of biology,
same as ben gibbard
Ate chickfila
Headed out to the concert
Gettin pumped
Got parked, finished the cooler
Mild heat, but not bad at all
Took a few pictures
Had awesome seats
Dear lord, so much beer
Fat tire and Blue Moon
We resisted
Headliner was Frightened Rabbit
They were Scottish
Fantastic
Played on hell of a set
For thirty minutes
Just long enough
The singer had great anecdotes..
all in his scottish accent
"we fed turtles bread
not sure if we were supposed to."
(coming out) "We're Frightened
Rabbit, and We're Scottish"
"We were gonna maybe hang out
in the woods before the show, but
they told us we shouldn't
because there are a lot of effing poisonous snakes"
That guy was hilarious, seriously.
They were really good
Had a great rhythm
Good lyricism, and the guitarist was going hard
7:30, set change
DJ and I just chilled
In about fifteen minutes
Death Cab came out
STRONG
ENERGY
LIGHTS
Dear god, the lights were just amazing
They headlined with possess your heart.
It was fantastic, such energy and passion
The lights flickering bright
Amplified the sound, beautifully
The songs were endless
And they were wild
The crowd was great
Everyone stood up when they came on
I'm more than 100% sure ben gibbard heard my voice/yell :D
It was so lovely
Every positive adjective in the book
And Ben Gibbard looked good
Trimmed down, a lot
He was really funny
I loved when he talked to the audience
"I'm gonna go jump in the lake now
maybe make some friends with the turtles
it's nice and murky."
His voice, so much more velvety in person.
Seriously.
Record my outgoing message bro.
I taped about half of the show
They played only 3 songs from codes and keys
They played this is the new year
With strong lighting at each downbeat
of DUH DUH... this is the new year.
Follow you into the dark was chilling
What sarah said live was huge with the crowd
Movie Script Ending was so great live
The list goes on
They 'ended' with the sound of settiling
I almost cried
They hadn't played transatlanticism
We stood our ground, DJ and I
We clapped, cheered, hollared
To the nights sky
And they came back
With Stay Young Go Dancing, We looked like giants, and yes
TRANSATLANTICISM
The final song
And it was beautiful
Will was right
Gibbard did the come on thing a few times more
It was the most chilling musical experience ever
Oh my god
Oh wow.
It was about 11 when we finally left, 10:30 when the concert ended
I had to take something back from the best concert of my life
I got a tee shirt and a poster
DJ about punched someone in line
Well, he did get mad at the 'hipster douchebags'
Of which there were a few
But seeing the people leave, you could really see
all walks of people, young to old, indie to oldies
Really a beautiful sight
We left the concert happily
DJ and I agreed, best show ever
The traffic in the parking lot was horrendous
DJ waited outside while I sat on the bed of his truck
It finally cleared out after 15 minutes and we left
Then came the scary part
We were driving out and weren't exactly sure where we were
We drove out, feeling okay, then we got gone
Frantic direction looking
Typical getting lost on the road trip
We found our way to I-40, thanks to Christopher Lewis Smith
But we went east instead of west
Then we got headed right, about midnight at this point
The rest of the drive DJ and I just talked, about like everything
Mainly the concert
We stayed awake
Finally got home at 2:30 am
Mom stayed up
Sweet
Showered
Got in bed
Well, one of the best nights of my life, maybe the best.
The time for sleep is now (:
